Welcome to QC transit. com: the only web address you need to remember for QC public transportation!
In the Iowa/Illinois Quad Cities, Bettendorf Transit, Davenport CitiBus, and Rock Island County Area’s MetroLINK work together to provide dependable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly fixed route transportation for citizens. In accordance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines, these systems also offer service options for seniors and those with disabilities. In the Iowa QC, these paratransit services are provided through city contracts with River Bend Transit. River Bend Transit (RBT) also performs rural county transportation services covering the four counties of Scott, Muscatine, Clinton, and Cedar, and provides a variety of other specialized transportation services.
Seasoned transit riders know the extensive access our QC systems provide, and newer riders soon discover that “knowing the systems” literally “pays off”, as trading a car for the bus just a few times a week can really add up. Keeping track of various information resources, or learning to use multiple systems smoothly, however, can be challenging -- that’s why there’s qctransit.com. This web gateway provides a link to each system’s website where you can find route maps, timetables, and detailed up-to-date information about the system of interest to you!

May 10 – 16, 2008 is National Bike to Work Week. Let’s make the Quad-Cities a lead participant in this national event celebrating health, fitness, green clean transportation, and the freedom of powering our travel needs with our own renewable energy – muscle power! Keep track of your miles each day, then on Friday, May 16, come back to this site and fill out the QC Commuter Challenge survey. All completed surveys will be entered for a chance to win prizes!
You will be asked the following:
- Your name, city of residence, and workplace
- Did your employer offer any incentives to participate? If so, what?
- How many car miles did you replace with alternative forms of transportation? You will be asked to break it down for each of the three categories: biking miles, walking miles, and bus miles. Download the B2WW Calculator to help log your miles.
- What (if any) obstacles did you encounter during the week that you don’t experience when driving your car?
- What positive benefit(s) did you enjoy that you don’t experience when driving your car?
- Did you use bike paths, residential streets, main road thoroughfares, or sidewalks on your commute?
- Are there any specific improvements needed, based on your experience this week?
- How would you describe QC area bicycle parking availability?
- Will you continue to use alternative forms of transportation for your commute?

Please take the time to share your experience with us – the data you provide is valuable, and
will be used in the continued effort to increase the Quad Cities “getaroundability” quotient! |
